Lady Melissa Percy has announced that she’s expecting her first child with her fiancé Remy Trafelet.

The 32-year-old heiress, who is the youngest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, revealed that she and Remy, 49, are starting a family in a statement about the launch of her fashion collection in the US.

The New York-based couple have been dating away from the public eye for the past three years, and have plans to marry soon.

In addition to their first child together, Lady Melissa will become stepmother to Remy’s three children Franny, 11, Charlotte, 14 and Remy, 16 from a previous relationship. 

Lady Melissa who grew up at Alnwick Castle, where the Harry Potter films were shot, and moved to New York to be closer to Remy after divorcing Prince Harry and William’s friend Thomas van Straubenzee in 2016.

The British fashion designer recently debuted Mistamina in America, a capsule collection designed for women who love adventure.  

The pair had been together for just three years when they decided to go their separate ways, following their lavish wedding at Alnwick Castle in 2013.

Speaking previously about the divorce, Lady Melissa told YOU magazine: ‘I knew it was right but it was a very hard thing to go through.

‘We were together for the whole of my 20s, and I think as a girl you change a lot at that age.’

‘But [the split] kicked me into action – in figuring out what I wanted to do, who I am and what I want out of life.’

Lady Melissa and Remy who is a billionaire financier have bonded over their mutual love of the outdoors and country pursuits. 

The engaged pair split their time between their family home in New York, Remy’s plantation in Georgia and Melissa who is also known as Missy’s hometown of Alnwick, Northumberland.

Lady Melissa has been donning a yellow diamond by JAR, since they began preparing to tie the knot. 

Speaking recently to Tatler, the aristocrat explained that her rare appearances are related to her love of staying home.

She said: ‘You know, I never actually liked going out. I was good at it, but I always looked forward to coming back and getting into my pyjamas. 

‘I’m a home person, I love being in the country.’ She smiles at her fiancé. ‘Remy knows I’m in a happy place when he comes back from work and finds me cooking.’

She has given a rare insight into her passions for the outdoors in candid snaps on the Instagram account for Mistamina.
