Nadine Coyle has admitted she grew ‘scared of so many things’ after giving birth to her daughter Anaíya, five, as she prepares to compete on this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, which kicks off on Sunday.

The former Girls Aloud singer, 34 – who shares her child with former partner Jason Bell – confessed she used to be ‘so brave’ and led a ‘go, go go’ lifestyle, but has become afraid of ‘even being in the car and flying’ since becoming a mother.

Musician Nadine has taken on the challenge in the jungle in a bid to dispel her fear of trying anything new, and hopes her exciting stint will ‘push me so far out my comfort zone’.

The songstress rose to fame in 2002 as a member of award-winning band Girls Aloud, alongside Cheryl, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh.

Following their disbandment in 2013, the artist settled in Los Angeles with her partner of 11 years, American football star Jason, 41, who she split from in September.

In 2015, the media personality closed down her Irish Mist pub and moved back to Northern Ireland to raise her daughter Anaiya.

Nadine has admitted she lost her gutsy attitude since becoming a parent. In a new interview in promotion of her new challenge, the blonde explained: ‘I am scared of so many things.

‘I really want to try something completely new. I used to be brave. In the past, I’ve opened a restaurant, had a record label, had my daughter and it was go, go, go with all of these.’

On being afraid to carry out simple activities in her life, she added: ‘Now I have got so fearful even being in the car, flying or general things.’

The singer said she hopes I’m A Celebrity will renew her confidence: ‘I think it is since I became a parent that I am much more afraid.

‘I really hope that by doing this, it pushes me so far out the comfort zone and that I learn to be comfortable, feel relaxed and do the things that I didn’t used to be afraid of.’

Dreading spending approximately three weeks away from her daughter, the Promise hitmaker shared: ‘I have been away for ten days for work before but not longer.

‘I am dreading being away from everybody and not being able to phone and say “how are you doing?” “How is my daughter?”.

‘I am excited but it also feels like a dream still. I know it is going to be a whole different story when I get out there!’

Joining the likes of American reality star Caitlyn Jenner and former footballer Ian Wright, the contestants will be expected to rough it in the jungle, take on challenging Bushtucker Trials and live on minimal food rations.

Despite running a restaurant, the Gossip star admitted preparing meals in the camp will still prove difficult.

Nadine said: ‘There is going to be so much new stuff to learn. I’ve never boiled water on a fire, chopped firewood, slept outside – I do hope I learn stuff about me and it’s the next phase.

‘I think I am very typical (of lots of people). If you go too long without stuff then horrible things can happen. My personality goes straight out the window!

‘I am one of two personalities – I go quiet by trying to conserve the energy and the other is raging and going “noooo”!’

On the exciting adventure, the mother-of-one explained her family have mixed feelings about the programme.

She added: ‘Some of my friends and family were really shocked. They asked me what I was doing and pointed out I was afraid of my own shadow! But I am just hoping my Jungle lady will come out!

‘My sister’s husband is an ex marine. He did offer to do some marine training with me in the run up to it but I thought that was a bit too extreme!’

Nadine – who has kept a relatively low profile since her Girls Aloud heyday – stressed she is not appearing on the ITV show to further her career.

The star said: ‘What I like about this is people are relying on you and it’s such an amazing opportunity. And I am not even going there when it comes to the idea of winning!

‘I have no Jungle experience and I can’t even imagine myself being in it. I just want to enjoy it all. I am the middle sister in my family and so I do think I am good at being neutral in these kinds of situations.

‘I hope I can help anybody in any way I can.’

The 19th series of the long-running ITV show is set to begin on Sunday November 17.

Exciting: Nadine will compete on the show with (L-R) Roman Kemp, Andrew Maxwell, Ian Wright, Caitlyn Jenner, Jacqueline Jossa, Myles Stephenson, Adele Roberts, Kate Garraway and James Haskell
