Emilia Clarke was the picture of glamour as she attended the UK Premiere of Last Christmas with her co-star Henry Golding, held at the BFI Southbank in south-east London on Monday evening.

The Game of Thrones star, 33 – who plays retail assistant Kate in the romantic comedy – commanded attention as she graced the festive-inspired carpet in a quirky black cocktail dress, complete with a ruffled bodice and a plunging keyhole neckline.

Actress Emilia was in good company as she arrived arm-in-arm with Tom actor Henry, 32, and was also joined by her on-screen mother and the film’s producer, Emma Thompson, who stood out from the crowd in a vibrant purple number, tied in with bedazzled star-shaped stamps worn across her crown.

The Breakfast at Tiffany’s star put on an uncharacteristically daring display as she flashed a glimpse of her cleavage in the flirty number, which was also decorated in sparkly silver sequins.

Slightly toning down her appearance, Emilia boosted her petite physique in a pair of classic black ankle-strap heels.

The beaming celeb injected even more sophistication into her look with a glittery diamond bracelet, teamed with a matching ring and simple stud earrings.

With her tresses gathered into a ponytail with a black ribbon, Emilia complemented her out-of-this-world beauty with a generous sweep of make-up.

The movie is inspired by the late George Michael and even boasts new music from the Wham! frontman. Earlier in the day, Emilia compared her own real-life illness to that of her character in her new film.

The actress discussed having two brain aneurysms in her 20s, with her movie alter-ego similarly suffering a life-threatening condition.

Opening up about her medical history to hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, the screen star said filming scenes was a ‘serendipitous’ experience.

During Monday’s This Morning, she explained: ‘I’ve had two brain haemorrhages. The first one I was 22 and the next one was kind of two years later, so there was a huge amount that I could relate to with what Kate was going through.

The TV and film star was quick to insist that she didn’t take on the role because she had a similar situation to Kate’s.

She continued: ‘I worked very hard and sort of got through it that way, Kate doesn’t – slightly different reactions to it! It wasn’t the reason why I took this job, it wasn’t the reason why the script spoke to me so much.

‘But in kind of delving into Kate as a character it just became this kind of serendipitous thing that allowed me to explore it within myself and within her.’

The actress previously thanked the ‘unbelievable’ paramedics for ‘keeping her laughing’ as they battled to save her life when she suffered her first brain aneurysm.

Emilia endured two health scares in 2011 and 2013, and has said that during her first experience with an aneurysm, the emergency staff who brought her to hospital were ‘so gracious’.

She explained: ‘It was a brain aneurysm that ruptured, and it was pretty traumatic. The paramedics were unbelievable.

‘They’d given me drugs so I was in less pain, wrapped me up like a tortilla and made me laugh the whole way to the hospital.

‘There I was, bleeding in the brain, and there we were in this ambulance having an absolute giggle. They were so gracious.’

Last Christmas hits cinemas November 7 in the UK, and November 8 in the USA.
